Bird Walk at Stone Oak Park
Meet SAAS leader Mariann Golden in the parking lot 20395 Stone Oak Parkway. SAAS will be assisting the Friends of Stone Oak Park in creating an inventory listing of birds that might be seen at the park.The park is located approximately 1 mile west of US 281 (look for the large white fence gate right before the park entrance.) If approaching from US 281, turn left on Stone Oak (after the traffic lights at Encino and Evan Roads - be sure to stay on the left side of 281 as it is hard to change lanes north of 1604). The park is on the right side across from the new Canyon Ridge Elementary School. An alternative route would be to take the Stone Oak exit when driving east on 1604, turn left under 1604 and drive north on Stone Oak which curves east before Hardy Oaks, continue past Evans Road, drive past the Canyon Ridge Elementary School and u-turn in the median to reach the park entrance on the north side of Stone Oak.

San Antonio Audubon Society member Georgina Schwartz will be at Hazel Bazemore County Park near Corpus Christi. Meet her any time after 8:00 AM as she leads a day of the best hawk watch in south Texas. The plans for the day are flexible.  Bring lunch and drinking water, sunscreen and sunglasses, and a chair. Depending on what birds are being seen in the Corpus Christi area, we may visit Tule Lake or other sites in the area as well as watching for hawks. Non-members are welcome.

SAAS has agreed to pick up trash once each quarter. Meet at the sign designating the San Antonio Audubon’s section along US 281 (south of 410) to pick up supplies and instructions. Bring gloves and water. The sign is 2 miles south of the intersection of US 281 with FM 1937. Our section continues 2 miles to just past the Medina River Bridge. SAAS field trip to the Farm Fields of Medina and Bexar Counties
An exploratory trip through agricultural areas of eastern Medina County and western Bexar County. We will be looking specifically for birds generally considered to be rare in the area: Longspurs, Horned Larks, Mountain Plover, Burrowing Owl, Rock Wren; rare raptors such as Prairie Falcon, Merlin or Rough-legged Hawk, Sandhill Crane, etc. Bring spotting scope, if available. Success for these rare birds cannot be guaranteed. Meet at 7:30 at Taft High School on Culebra Road (FM 471) outside of Loop 1604. Leader: Bob Doe

Meet leader James Middleton at Judson Nature Trails next to Alamo Heights swimming pool. At 5900 block of Broadway in Alamo Heights, turn west on Ogden to stop sign at Greely Street. Turn left one block, then right on Viesca to small parking lot on left before the swimming pool. Binoculars available, everyone is welcome.
